Department of medical and Biological Chemistry

        The Department of Medical and Biological Chemistry was officially included in the branch structure under the Faculty of Pediatrics from September of the 2022-2023 academic years under this name.

                                                                                   History of the department

       By the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 172 dated March 5, 2018, the Termez branch of the Tashkent Medical Academy was established. When the branch was established, a total of 3 departments were operating. Medical chemistry and biological chemistry currently being taught at the department were under the jurisdiction of the 1st Department of Medical and Biological Sciences at that time. In the 2021-2022 academic years, these subjects were part of the Department of Medical and Biological Sciences of the Faculty of Medicine. Starting from the 2022-2023 academic year, medical chemistry and biological chemistry are operating within the Department of Medical and Biological Chemistry of the Faculty of Pediatrics.

                                                                                     Actions of the department

        The Department of Medical and Biological Chemistry is located on the 1st floor of the 1st educational building. In the department, according to the curriculum, lectures, practical and laboratory classes are conducted in medical chemistry at the 1st stage, and biological chemistry at the 2nd stage for the educational areas of treatment, pediatrics and folk medicine.
    From the academic year 2021-2022, students of the joint educational program “treatment work” and “pediatric work” opened in cooperation with the Privolzhsk Scientific Research Medical University of the Russian Federation are being trained in chemistry and analytical research methods.
     From the 2022-2023 academic years, the department is conducting lectures and practical training on medical chemistry for foreign students studying from the Republic of India.
   Currently, a total of 15 professors work in the department, of which 6 are full-time and 9 are part-time. Also, 1 foreign (Tajikistan) professors are working in the department.
    The scientific potential of the department is 33%.
